Floc Bulking ATP (fbATP)
How and Where is this Test Kit Used?
Used as a supplement to the QG21W test kit, the fbATP™ procedure is intended for wastewater treatment applications to detect conditions that lead to bulking or other mechanisms responsible for poor biomass compaction in gravity clarification processes. Use fbATP on biomass samples such as:
-
Aerobic Lagoons
-
Anaerobic Reactors
This kit can also be used in the following applications and industries:
The fbATP test protocol involves passing a mixed liquor sample through a screen and measuring the Total ATP of the biomass caught on the screen. When used concurrently with the QG21W kit, the user can observe when the filamentous population begins to exceed baseline levels.
Monitoring fbATP over time will give the user a mechanism to determine floc bulking potential, and can offer early warning of impending settling problems. This is possible because of the greatly improved sensitivity of ATP measurements over physical characteristic measurements for detecting small changes in biomass physiology.
Using the fbATP parameter, along with the tATP™ parameter obtained using QG21W, the amount of bulking in a sample can be determined within minutes!
