QGB™ – Quench-Gone™ Beverage
How and Where is this Test Kit Used?
|
 |
Quench-Gone Beverage (QGB) is based on the measurement of ATP and is designed for rapid microbial monitoring in beverage manufacturing raw materials, intermediate and finished products. Using a single analysis, you will be able to measure the total microbiological concentration at any point in the manufacturing process within minutes and in doing so, reduce the labor required for microbial analyses and turnaround time for results. This easy–to–use test protocol does not require special training and can be done anywhere — from the laboratory to the plant floor.

Quench–Gone technology from LuminUltra™ is based on the measurement of Adenosine Triphosphate (ATP). ATP is a direct and interference–free indicator of total living biomass. ATP is measured using the firefly luciferase assay, where a sample containing ATP is introduced to a solution containing the enzyme Luciferase, which naturally occurs in the tails of fire flies, to produce light. The light is detected in a Luminometer.

QGB test kits use filtration to concentrate microbial cells in a sample. QGB also removes plant cell and extracellular ATP, and in doing so, isolates microbial ATP to provide a true measure of contamination. QGB is optimized to detect between 1 and 1x106pg ATP/mL using standard equipment and procedures, depending on the type or volume of sample analyzed.
QGB provides real–time measurement of total microbiological contamination. When used as part of a beverage manufacturing process, it can help guide preservation initiatives, prevent product deterioration, troubleshoot contamination incidents, and minimize health risk.

Validation for Beverage Manufacturing
Manufacturers of food and beverage products must follow stringent quality control mechanisms to ensure product quality and minimize health risks. Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP) plans depend on not only quality testing on final products, but also on raw materials and intermediate products.
