Superior Accuracy
Accuracy in measurement starts with the quality of the sample, not just where and when the sample is taken, but also how it is integrated into the analysis. LuminUltra™ test formats rely on accurate metering of samples into the analytical process via pipet-based transfer, which ensures that:

By comparison, most popular ATP-based water tests utilize a ‘Pen’ format, based on highly-successful products designed for hygiene monitoring applications. While this format excels in ease-of-use, the sampling mechanism often does not measure much more than free-floating bacteria, and utilizes a small volume sample on the order of microliters.
ATP releasing agents used by many commercial suppliers provide relatively poor ATP extraction efficiency. Large collections of microorganisms, such as slime masses, deposits clumps, yeast and molds, are especially susceptible to poor ATP recovery. To overcome these difficulties LuminUltra has developed the UltraLyse™ product line which contains a synergistic blend of active ingredients, providing superior ATP extraction efficiency.
UltraLyse 30 is optimized for wastewater applications, and UltraLyse 7 is optimized for water applications. UltraLyse is designed to prevent the absorption and/or precipitation of ATP onto inert components, such as metal oxides or cellular debris, further increasing ATP recovery and maximizing accuracy. Finally, many samples, especially those from industrial sources, contain chemicals that inhibit the bioluminescent luciferase reaction.
