Repeatability

Using the recommended equipment, reagents, and procedures, LuminUltra has observed that even operators with minimal micropipetting experience can achieve reproducible results when testing ATP standards. Repeatability is improved even more with LuminUltra’s QuenchGone21 format which features pre-dispensed reagents and fewer pipetting steps than previous versions.

The excellent repeatability of LuminUltra’s advanced ATP monitoring technology puts it in a league
of its own compared to other ATP test kits.

For most industrial waters, Relative Standard Deviation (RSD) values of 10% on replicate tests are typically observed. However, for some samples in which many of the organisms are in clumps, RSD values on replicate tests may rise to 20%. A higher RSD is typical in these analyses because of the difficulty in obtaining reproducible subsamples from samples that are not homogeneous.

These types of errors are further amplified when using instrumentation and devices that yield RSD values of 10 to 20 % simply for controlled ATP standards. Unlike competing ATP technologies that typically use a sample volume of ~100µL, LuminUltra’s test protocols always use a minimum of 1mL. When testing low-solids water samples, 50mL of water or more is typically used.

By using LuminUltra established protocols and reagents, errors in analytical precision are minimized and data interpretation is easier. In addition, the rapid feedback of ATP analyses allows samples to be re-processed on-the-spot if questionable results are obtained. Other biological tests cannot perform this qualification because results are not obtained for hours or days after test initiation.
