Preparing to Test

When getting set to perform ATP analyses, there are several preparations that can be made to save time and improve accuracy of the analysis:

Reagents – Remove one bottle of each reagent from the fridge 1 hour in advance of any analyses to allow them to warm to room temperature. If the temperature of the work area is relatively stable at 20 C to 25 C (68 F - to 78 F) and tests are done with a relatively consistent frequency (i.e. 10 to 15 samples per week), a bottle of each reagent can be left at room temperature through the course of the week to eliminate this warming requirement.

Micropipetting – The most important aspect to ensure accurate results of the proper use of the micropipettor for sample transfer. Micropipettors are a highly accurate means of pipetting and are relatively easy to use.

Although adjustable micropipettors offer greater flexibility, fixed-volume micropipettors may be used to save time by avoiding adjustments.
