LuminUltra’s GeneCount® system was used to audit the residence building of a major US college campus that was suspected to harbour Legionella. Samples were collected from four separate showers and results showed Legionella species were present in all tested locations.
Point of Use (POU) filters were installed in the contaminated showers to mitigate the risk of Legionella to the building occupants. Follow-up tests conducted immediately after the POU filters were installed showed no detectable Legionella, confirming a successful and effective mitigation.
