Through qualitative and quantitative testing, it was confirmed that Preservation B reagent – included in LuminUltra® SARS-CoV-2 Environmental Monitoring Kits – inactivates the SARS-COV-2 virus (ensuring safe handling of samples throughout the assay).
The qualitative experiment used a 1:1 ratio of Preservation B with live SARS-CoV-2 in water and replicated three times without dilution, all demonstrating the inactivation of the virus by Preservation B. Using Reed-Muench TCID50 method in a sample and control group, the quantitative experiment demonstrated levels of the virus below the detectible limit.
